Well, folks, we’re finally here. My official publication date is less than 12 hours away, though the reality is that the book is out everywhere. The local Barnes & Noble has already sold out its first 10 book order and has another batch on the way. But tomorrow is tomorrow and regardless of the actual release date of the book, I will herald tomorrow as P-day.
Publication day.
Locus magazine now has Road listed on their New an Notable page with a preview of what Faren Miller will say about it in the October issue. She will call it “neither an abstruse scholarly thesis nor a fannish rave” and “a wonderfully useful guide for further exploration.” I like that.
The spread in the local newspaper yesterday was huge. It’s a broadsheet newspaper and I had the whole upper half above the fold in the Trends section, and even a few lines below the fold. Very impressive and more in depth than I remembered. The article was based on an interview I gave to a sister newspaper a few months ago for a piece about local writers that never ran. I heard from the journalist last week that they were going to run it by itself, so I forwarded them an update. The people around here are going to get sick of hearing my name, or at least reading it in the newspaper!
Amazon sales still seem strong — my sales ranking even dipped below 300 briefly once this weekend. I got my first copies in the mail today by a fan who wanted them signed. He bought four copies in total: two to be signed, one to read and the limited edition as well. God bless people like him!
Happy Publication Day, Bev!!!
