Graduated

Posted on | May 20, 2005 | 3 Comments

We’re down to the wire — our daughter graduates from high school next week. The weather better cooperate–the event is being held at the local concert pavilion. The graduates will be okay; they’ll be under the canopy. We’ll be sitting on the hillside, though. If it rains, it’s gonna get ugly!

Afterward, the school is holding a lock-in. I’m going to be dealing blackjack from 10 pm until 5 am. Whoo-hee! They have thousands of dollars worth of prizes as an incentive to keep them off the streets the night of graduation, a tradition that has been going on here for nearly two decades.

Not much news today, so I’ll try selling something instead. I won a signed Song of Susannah poster at the Simon & Schuster message boards, and I don’t have any place to hang it up. Rather than leave it curled inside a cardboard tube for the rest of eternity, I thought I’d auction it off on eBay. Framed and matted, it would look nice on any collector’s wall, and the fact that it bears a verified King autograph in this day and age of mass forgeries is a plus!

Today it will be 91 degrees. Summer has arrived.
