Left Coast

Did I accomplish much this weekend? I’m not sure. I did finish one thing that I’d been working on for several days—a new chapter of Missing Persons. It was one of those situations where I’d get to a certain point, then go back and rewrite what I’d already done, get a little bit farther, go back, rinse and repeat. It seemed to take forever to get to the end of the chapter, even though I knew how it would go. I did get there, and spent a lot of time polishing it more. The problem (for me) with adding something new to something that’s been around for a while is that I need to make sure the new material gets refined as much as the previously existing material.

I revised the following chapter, too and am ready to tackle the next, although that one is going to require some fairly major restructuring. I started reading it last night and when I got to a place where I saw that big changes were going to be required, I put it aside to tackle when I was fresh.

I was supposed to be in L.A. today for a meeting, but it was cancelled at the next-to-last minute. I was looking forward to getting a glimpse into the inner workings of Hollywood, but I guess that will have to wait for another day.

Does anyone reading this watch Gray’s Anatomy? I’ve been watching since day one and I continue to enjoy it, though I usually tape it to watch the next day. The post-Super Bowl episode looks tense. Code Black, huh? Some of last night’s episode—the end-of-life scenes—struck close to home. The character interactions are superb, and that they can pull something out of the hat to astonish viewers (Izzie’s revelation) impresses me.

Good luck with the writing, Bev! :)

I have those wacky “I know how the rest of this chapter goes, why is it taking me forever to finish writing it?” moments too. They make no sense, but I guess we all have them.

It’s like I need to build up momentum. Get up a good head of speed and break through a barrier or leap a chasm. I’m aware of it as it happens, but stay in that skipping mode.

Gray’s Anatomy is a wonderful show, when I catch it. (G already uses the tapes for Masters of Horror and 24.) I really like the characters and I was surprised to find such a different take on what could have easily turned into another ER show – which I also like for different reasons. By the sounds of it, we’re going to make sure we tape this one coming up.

    Thanks for the heads up!

I don’t hear many people talk about it but it turned out to be the most-watched program this past Sunday, with 18.5 million viewers.

I think that people don’t talk much about it because it’s not stupidly outrageous, and it’s not a Survivor show or other reality show with alliances. I also love the show but never thought about bringing it up in a conversation. Funny, eh?
