Madness, I say. Madness.

I’m not a basketball fan, so this thing called March Madness is something totally alien to me. All it signifies to me is that CSI and Survivor won’t be on tonight. Now if it were hockey, I’d be so there.

Started working on a new short story this morning. Noodled around with some research, plugged a couple of pages of paragraphs into Word, then realized in the shower how I was really supposed to be approaching the story. I knew what I was doing wasn’t working exactly, but I wanted to get my mind in the groove of the tale, trusting my subconscious to do the real grunt work. Can’t wait to get back at it, now, to see if my shower-mind can be trusted to guide me.

Anyone watching The Unit? I was determined not to take on a new series and skipped the first episode, but caught it when they re-ran it on Saturday and I’m intrigued. The second episode was not quite as strong as the first, but I’ll check it out next week to see where they’re going with it.

And now, this:

I’m a Mercedes SLK!

You appreciate the finer things in life. You have a split personality – wild or conservative, depending on your mood. Wherever you go, you like to travel first class. Luxury, style, and fun – who could ask for more?

    ooh! sexy car!

if it’s not too much trouble, i’ve got a question for ya. i’ve been working on a perfume for a little bit now, and want to name it after a character out of a book. the trouble is, i don’t know how to go about getting permission from the author. i thought that since you had a very knowlagable hand in the book arena, perhaps you could put me on the right road?

    thanks in advance!

It depends on who the author is. If he (or she) has a web site, there might be a way to communicate with him that way. For example, Stephen King has a moderated message board. You can send messages not meant for public consumption on that board by putting DO NOT POST at the top. His personal assistant traps these messages and acts on them accordingly.

If you can’t find a web contact, a letter via the author’s publisher might do the trick. If it’s someone you think I might know, e-mail me via MaxDevore at hotmail dotcom.
