Na Na · Na Na Na Na Naa

The weight of history was against them. Home teams win game sevens. Teams down 3 games to 1 don’t win series.

And, thus, Edmonton bowed to the weight, though they didn’t go down without a fight. It just looked that way for a while. When they were suddenly handed a get-out-of-jail-free card, nearly two minutes of a two-man advantage, they squandered it with a penalty and ended up penalty killing for a minute instead. While on the power play they passed, and passed, and passed, and passed some more. Shoot! I raged at them. Shoot the bloody puck at the bloody net!

Ah, well, you can’t feel too bad when the Hurricanes won for the first time in team history.

Finished Arc of Infinity before the game. Had to laugh at the look on the Doctor’s face when Tegan announced he was stuck with her. Not exactly overjoyed. I wonder if actors get extra pay when they have to play two roles in a piece, as Davison did. The Amsterdam setting was fun but irrelevant, and the chase scene at the end tired me out, too. It went on far too long. I’m not exactly sure what the weapon the guy in the funky chicken suit (the Ergon) fired occasionally did to people. They vanished, and reappeared somewhere else. So, what happened to him when he got zapped? Nyssa seemed to enjoy shooting folk in this episode. The convenience of having Tegan show up in Amsterdam was a bit of a stretch, too. Still, a fun episode, and now I’m down to two.

The rains have lessened somewhat, but we’re still expecting some accumulation each of the next few days. We have officially surpassed month- and year-to-date averages, though. Parts of Houston yesterday received the most rainfall since the devastation of Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.

The Ergon is hilarious. I think the BBC used its entire rubber budget for this one serial.

And I love how trigger happy Nyssa gets! I so wanted to marry her when I was a kid!

Dang thing keeps logging me out…

“One of Omega’s less successful attempts at psycho-synthesis,” sez the Doctor of Ergon. The BBC episode guide site says: “Antimatter in Amsterdam. May contain alien chicken.”

Did you ever notice how often Whovian villains start leaking fluid when things go bad? That’s usually the first sign that the jig is up.

    Mmmm…alien chicken…

I think I want to watch this one again soon!
