Unplugged

My new essay is up at Storytellers Unplugged, in which I ramble on about some of the best author readings I’ve attended. If you check out the comments section you’ll find a link to the Gary Braunbeck reading I mention in the essay. One of my favorite things about this essay series is the immediate feedback we get sometimes.
Is anyone watching Big Brother All Stars? It’s my guilty pleasure of the summer. Literally the only programme I’m watching on any regular basis, though I have checked out a few House reruns recently. I think Janelle made a big mistake this time in not nominating James when Danielle won POV. I’ve watched the last couple of episodes via the web rebroadcast because I wasn’t home for their original run. When I go to the CBS page, I do my best to avert my eyes, because without fail there’ll be some huge spoiler on the page that links to the webcast, but I couldn’t avoid it this time and found out who won POV before seeing the episode.

I was at HFW ’06, but did not have the chance to attend Tom’s reading. Though I did get to meet him and say how much I enjoyed his work in Cemetery Dance. He’s a very nice man.
This past weekend was my first time at an author reading, and I have to say that out of those I got to, Dallas was the best. I was reminded of a younger me being read to by my mother, trying her best to create a voice for every character.
Great essay.
