Covet it! Murder to get it! Worship it! Read it on Sundays! Lie about it!

Thou Shalt Not is now available for order from Dark Cloud Press or Shocklines. It’s an anthology of horror and crime fiction where someone breaks one of the Ten Commandments with dire, deadly, or disastrous results.
My story is called “False Witness,” so it should be fairly obvious which commandment I’m tackling, but I won’t say more about the story than that because I’m the sort of person who doesn’t read the dust jacket copy before reading a novel.
It’s a bargain: 37 stories, 410 pages for a mere $17.00. Dark Cloud Press has been a joy to work with from the get-go. The editor, Lee Allen Howard, has been the consummate professional throughout, and has kept the contributors up-to-speed with the production all the way along.
I received a rejection from Clarkesworld last night. Probably one of the best and most helpful rejection letters I’ve ever received for a short story. The main problem is that it wasn’t science fictional enough for that market. The editor was very flattering about the story’s strong points and made some useful suggestions about how I might market it elsewhere.
Mike “Boogie” won Big Brother last night, pocketing $500,000. Runner-up Erika got 1/10 of that amount and Janelle was awarded the people’s choice prize of $25,000. No big surprise there—she always won the popularity contests in addition to the veto competitions. There was enough sniping among former house guests to make it entertaining.
House was pretty good last night, but I had the mystery illness diagnosed long before they did. As soon as they identified the foreign DNA in the kid’s heart, I knew what was going on. I’ve read enough Michael Slade novels to know about that particular syndrome! Speaking of whom, Kamikaze goes on sale in Canada today. Check out the dedication page if you get a chance.
