Where did the summer go?

I know, I know, summer doesn’t end for a while, and it’s still hotter than blazes, but school is starting up again soon and it feels like summer is over and I somehow missed that it even started. I’ve had my head buried in work and writing and haven’t taken much time off except for NECON, so the time has just been blazing by. I’m taking a week off over the Labour Day weekend, so maybe that will be summer hols.
Did another 50% editing pass on the new short story this morning. By the end of Sunday I plan to ship it back to the editor and to my first reader for their feedback. I keep coming up with little tidbits of detail I want to cram in. That’s the problem with writing something that is firmly rooted in reality, I find.
Big Brother is hard to watch sometimes, especially when the contestants are screaming at each other. Last night was particularly awkward. After two months, I’ll be the cabin fever is really getting to them. I wonder what Jen will be like when she gets to the sequester house. Without her around, the emotional tension may get ratcheted down a notch or two as well. The only one left in the house that Dick has lashed out at is Jameka, and she’s a lame duck for two more weeks.
