RSS

I haven’t yet groked onto the world of RSS, but I understand it’s the bees knees and the greatest thing since sliced bread. Even my own personal message board offers an RSS feed, thanks to the most recent update from YaBB. The reason I mention this is that the RSS feed on Storytellers Unplugged has been broken for a little while but has now been fixed, so if you want to point your RSS thing-a-ma-bob at SU, have at it. My next post will be on Monday, where I get edgy and controversial. Yeah, right.

I started a 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle last night. It’s something we do around the house every now and then, especially when the whole family’s around. Sometimes we all work on it together while we talk, and other times one person will sit down at the table and plug away at it. This one is Times Square at night, with lots of lights and colors and a neat time-lapse section with streaked headlights. I did most of the border last night while watching Criminal Minds. A mediocre episode, I thought. Boston Legal from the night before was much more fun, with Denny and Alan suing the National Guard and then trying to sign up. John Laroquette has aged well and become a really good actor. I first noticed this when he did a guest appearance on House last year. A long way from his days as Dan on Night Court.

The temperature dropped about 20° during the day yesterday, and the rains continue. Just glad it isn’t snow or we wouldn’t be able to see out the downstairs windows. I’m on vacation for the next few days. My work schedule is really erratic for the rest of the year, with a few days off, a couple of days on, the long weekend, a couple of days on and then another long weekend. I think I will only be at my day job four days for the rest of the year, though I’ll still be checking in from home from time to time.

you used Grok in a sentence, you are the hero, the wordslinger.
When I visit folken in Texas next spring mayhap we could down a pint or two, if it do ya. Wife and I shall visit Austin, San Antonio, and Houston burbs. My Cousin has a nice Blues Club in the Houston area.

Finished my WriMo story with 65k plus, and am trying to edit it…it may be worth the price of an editor to free me from this self inflicted bondage. I have no problem dealing with the drabbles, shorts, and occasional novella 20k size, but I think editing (without major revisions) is not my forte.
Although three sequel plot lines emerged from the effort, so far.
Good luck on the puzzle. Our family lays out a pile on the table and gathers round for timed events while feasts are prepared during the holidays.
Picked up Richard Matheson’s “I Am Legend” and a few chapters to finish before i visit the theater to watch the latest attempt in translation to screen. I like Will Smith and it strikes me funny how he has evolved into a Sci-fi leading man from his comedic beginnings.
I Am Legend was one of the first stories I read (at eight in 1962) and then was launched into the beyond by Heinlein, Bradbury, Lovecraft, Asimov, and other writers of the human being in suspect circumstances.
    ah, I ramble on.
Look forward to your next S.U. article.

    Long days sai,

Thanks — I’ve implemented the RSS on Google, but I haven’t gotten into the groove of using it on a regular basis.

I was slow to start using it, but once I did, it’s really made a difference in the amount of time I spend online. Right now I have something like 60 feeds in my aggregator – made my life so very much saner!

Looks like something I should really investigate, then. Thanks!

Not a problem. And for the record, GreatNews is the best aggregator I’ve been able to find. I’ve tried many others and keep coming back to GN. You can get it at http://curiostudio.com, iirc. If you use Firefox as your browser, you have to tweak the GN ini file to get it to use Firefox, but that’s no biggie – you just paste in a line of code.
