…that The Mentalist will be a rerun tonight. CSI, too. And that Survivor will be awesome. The most scared Jeff Probst has been in 19 years. With Fringe pre-empted, that thins out the evening nicely.
We had a torrential rainstorm this morning, heralding the arrival of another cold front. This one is serious — temps down into the 40s overnight. Supposed to make for a nice weekend, though.
My wife found a stack of The Stephen King Illustrated Companion at the local Barnes & Noble today. She got permission to snap some pictures of it with her cell phone. When I was in last week, it was supposedly in stock, but no one could find it. There were over half a dozen copies when she was in today.
I finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest last night. I was glad that Larsson thought to tie up one loose thread in the final pages, but there was one that would have been ripe for future exploration if the author had survived–a character mentioned several times but never seen. If you’ve read the books, you’ll probably know who I mean. I definitely didn’t get the feel that Larsson was done with these characters, and I think I read somewhere that he left behind parts of other novels and plans for up to ten. Next up: The Complaints by Ian Rankin. We’re also reaching the end of Blue Shoes and Happiness.

In my local Barnes and Noble the book is already on the discount shelves. Though priced at $25 I don’t think they are discounted but it seems to be a good marketing technique.
And permission to take pictures of books? Blah I do it al the time and save them to my Amazon Remember List.
The book is discounted out of the box, basically. It’s designed to be a bargain book.
At my Road to the Dark Tower signing, the store manager was a bit guarded about allowing people to take pictures of the way books were displayed. Ever since then, we’ve been cautious and asked permission.
