April 17 Storytellers Unplugged: Why Write Short Stories? (podcast)
April 9 On April 12, 2008, starting at 2 pm, I will be signing The Blue Religion, the MWA anthology containing my story "Rule Number One" at Murder By The Book in Houston. Later that afternoon, Pulitzer Prize-nominated crime novelist Ace Atkins will be signing at the same location.

March 27 My short story Groundwood was accepted for publication by Wrong World. They will produce it as a PDF that is accompanied by an audio narrative introduction and wrap-up in the style of The Twilight Zone. “Groundwood” will appear in July’s WRONG WORLD® collection “INFLATION—Things that go big in the night.”

September 18 "Adrift," the story that is the inspiration behind this month's Storytellers Unplugged essay (see below), was officially accepted this morning for an anthology of Atlantic Canadian stories tentatively titled Hard Old Spot, edited by Mike Heffernan, who also edited A Dark and Deadly Valley.

March 30 My interview with Tabitha King is finally appearing in Pensacola Magazine and even gets prominent cover ink: Tabitha King collaborates with the dead. I haven't seen a copy yet -- it's the April issue. I submitted it before the hardcover of Candles Burning came out and it's being published just before the paperback is released!
March 19 Apex Digest #9, containing my contest-winning short story "Sufficiently Advanced," was released over the weekend.

October 31 Silverthought Press is now taking preorders for A Dark and Deadly Valley, the WWII-themed anthology that contains my story "Sturm und Drang."
October 17 This is story month at Storytellers Unplugged. My tale is called The Illusion.
September 18 3000 Words About the Peloponnesian War is now up at Storytellers Unplugged
September 13 False Witness can now be purchased from Dark Cloud Press or Shocklines.

The anthology contains 37 stories that break every one of the ten commandments. Mine is called "False Witness." Other authors include Mike Arnzen, M. Stephen Lukac and Barbara Malenky.

you have five free minutes, check it out. It won second place in the Twilight Tales Flash Fiction contest at World Horror Convention in 2005.
August 22 Writer's Digest now has a page up for On Writing Horror, which contains my essay "For Love or Money: Six Marketing Myths." Amazon lists a publication date of November 18, 2006.

November 28 I'll be signing at the Signatures literary series event at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in The Woodlands, TX, from 10:30 to 2:00 pm. The keynote guest is former First Lady Barbara Bush. This event was scheduled originally for 11/29 but was changed at a late date.
November 28 I'll be the guest in an online chat promoted by Biting Dog Press in conjunction with the Utah Library System. 7 pm Mountain time. Log on here to participate.

August 22 Author Jeff Strand posted a review of the Corpse Blossoms anthology on Shocklines. He writes, "Okay, so, those of you who know me know that I'm going to gravitate to the quirky/funny stuff, and so Bev Vincent's 'The Smell of Fear' was my favorite story in the anthology. It's a clever, extremely amusing tale written from the point of view of a complete whack-job." You can also see the final lineup and order for the Damned Nation anthology here. My story "The Garden of Earthly Delights" is second to last.
August 19 SHOCKERFEST has nominated Stephen King's Gotham Café for Best Horror Short and Cullen Douglas (Guy) is also nominated for Best Actor! The festival takes place September 23-25. Gotham is screening tonight at HorrorFind in Baltimore.
