Seven impossible things before Sunday night

This is going to be one of those amazing weekends where I accomplish each and every one of the numerous tasks I have set out for myself.

Ri-i-i-i-i-ght.

I always do this. I look at a big chunk of available time and I start cataloging all the things I’m going to get done. It’s going to be wonderful. I’m going to write book reviews, essays, columns, short stories, as well as tend to some things around the house, watch the full season of Lost on DVD along with the last six episodes of The Dead Zone TV series, maybe go to a John Mellencamp concert, etc.

I shouldn’t set up such a level of expectation, because no matter what I accomplish, it can’t possibly be as much as I hope for. Still, after a week away from the keyboard, it’s high time that I get back to work. Time’s a-wastin’.

On Thursday, I’ll be participating in the local arm of the Books on the Bayou author fair at Market Street in The Woodlands. The Montgomery County Library System and Borders will host the Books on the Bayou Storytelling Celebration at Market Street Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Central Park. The celebration is hosted by the Houston Chronicle, city of Houston and Houston Public Library to encourage local authors and reading in the Houston community. The Storytelling Celebration is a time where local families can venture to Market Street and listen to authors from The Woodlands read excerpts from their work out loud. I have no idea what to expect of this event, so I’ve chosen a fairly benign story to read, Diver Down, which was published in Carve magazine. If you’re in the neighborhood, drop on by for a listen.
