Lockdown

edited November 2024 in Short Stories
Lockdown is the title of my story in "The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand," which will be published by Gallery Books on August 19, 2025. My story is in the section containing tales that happen during the events of King's novel.

Why We’re Excited: One of the buzziest horror books of the year long before anyone had a chance to read any of it, The End of the World as We Know It is a sprawling, epic continuation of Stephen King’s The Stand through the lens of some of the best writers in horror. Whether the horror prowess of editors Brian Keene and Christopher Golden gets you in the door, or you just can’t pass up that table of contents, you won’t be let down by this towering collection. -- Paste Magazine

  • Is this book going to be in Barnes and Noble? I absolutely hate ordering books from Amazon now.  And there are so many good books. That I’ll never read. Man, I just finished a Michael Caine book and it took everything in me to focus.

I do have a very generous Amazon gift card so maybe i’ll pick a book or two.

  • Yes, it will be everywhere. Everywhere!

  • Brian Keene does an unboxing video. He’s verklempt a bit, I’m verklempt a bit. It’s these meaningful moments that are so touching and watching all these people have their moment — i am a huge baby on their behalf.

I'm still waiting for my copies!

I am really getting depressed. People are already talking about reading it.  I could use this right here and now. Take me out of reality if only for a moment.

I need to cultivate a better group of writerly friends.

  • Oh dang. I guess people are crawling out of the woodwork asking for the book, asking to get Steve’s signature. And if it’s happening to one contributor, it’s happening to them all. Ya can’t joke about anything anymore because humans suck.

  • Some B&N stores already have the book on their shelves.

  • I am back. Immediately I put a Brodart on my cover.

And now,  I  want to jump around reading my go-to author’s work first. But… I’m not going to do that. Brian obviously put a lot of work and thought where these stories should fall, so I’m going to follow the map and take the journey as intended.

    I’m so excited!
