Change of Plans
This 1600-word story will appear in an upcoming issue of Nossa Morte, a new e-magazine that launches next month. I don't know what issue I'll be in, but it likely won't be the first one.
I originally wrote the story in 2002 for a themed anthology, but it didn't make the cut. I didn't do anything with it until recently, when I took it out, dusted it off and sent it in. The editor had some good suggestions for a different direction for the ending, so I rewrote and resubmitted and was accepted today. Originally it was a 1200-word story, but the new ending took a little longer to resolve.
