    I love those Scott.   :D

Some of you may remember I have quail who live in my backyard.  Or they did.  I caught them living over at the neighbor's yard last week and was totally disgusted with them.  My yard is better!  But, last night I was walking past my back door and caught a glimpse of something moving. So, I open the door -- a damn cat had about 20 quail cornered on my patio.  Needless to say, the cat ran, the birds took off.  So, I guess they are coming to my yard, just not hanging out like they used to.  Haven't caught anyone making a nest.

I love to see them with all their babies.  It is so peaceful.  And they were to the point I could sit on my patio and they would walk their family right past me!!!

I'm hoping somewhere there is a nest.   I want my bird babies.
....we have been quail bereft for many years here at the Ranch, but I remember how cool they were.....time to extinguish the cat......

I have cat trouble in my back garden as well, I use a water pistol with vinegar or for the more troublesome feline I throw baby potatoes at the furry bast*rds, they give my garden a wide berth for a while but they always start showing up again and the process starts again.
I love cats. BUt you mess with my quail, and we aren't friends.  I would never do anything to hurt them, but I would definitely do things to discourage them from coming my way.
....I love cats as well, but sometimes they need a good scare.....an Airsoft BB gun would work well....non-lethal but painful....

  • My sister in law has 4 goats. All of them pregnant.  And the first one had 4 babies last night.  FOUR!  That is a lot of babies for a goat.  The littlest one couldn't get up and walk, so my SIL was bottle feeding it.  And they are so friggin' cute!  I can see a visit to goat central soon.  Baby goat therapy, the best!
4?!!! OMGosh! You need to get a couple of them shipped to you... :D GNTLGNT said:

Are they for sure not dangerous? (personally I would never use one) Neighbours across the road were shooting a BB pistol at a young dog that kept getting out of a house in our street, I took the dog away and back to it's home (on about a hundred or more occasions) and a time shortly after that when he turned up at my house he had blood all over his ear, it was bleeding freely. Poor pup, I cleaned him up and took him home.
Animal Control caught him out not long after and took him away. I never saw him again and I fear they may have put him down, he was a pitty and they're the least re-homed breed here. :(

Poor pup.  I wouldn't use that either. I  just get up and chase them.  I need the exercise anyway.

....the one I posted is powered by CO2 cartridges, and they are more powerful-but Airsoft and similar brands also offer simple spring loaded pistols that fire a small plastic or rubber BB at low power.  It'll sting, but not permanently injure....they work well for feral cats....

I broke down and bought myself a big mac.  It's the first fast food I've had in about a month.  Of course, I wiped everything down that it was packaged in and prayed that Covid Jr. wasn't sitting on the burger .

McDonald's is closed here, no big macs for me till this lockdown is lifted. Some Burger King outlets are still open for drive through only. I never really ate food from McDonald's but now that I can't have it I want it......badly :'(

Same here... though we've had absolutely no fast-food open of any kind. We're still in level 4 and will be until the 28th, then we go to level 3 for a minimum of 2 weeks. We will be able to have contactless fast-food delivery at that point.
