  • Okay, Big, Bold, Beautiful Journey is a movie coming out about finding random doors and walking through them. Not an idea unique to King, but it makes you wonder the influence King’s use of the idea had on this story.

    Sweet. I enjoyed it.

“Oh very young, what will you leave us this time
You're only dancin' on this earth for a short while…”

  • Saw War of the Worlds with Ice Cube and Eva Longoria in the leads. Curious to see what they did to an old classic. Wasn't exactly overwhelmed. But it passed 90 minutes so i guess its ok.

  • We liked The Thursday Murder Club, too. Fun to see Tennant play such an odious character!

David is one of my favorite actors. Truly a chameleon as is Jon Simm. Love their versatility, you never know what you’re going to get.

The "you look like the queen" bit is funny given the two actors appeared as Philip and Elizabeth in The Crown!

Bev. You can’t just drop The Long Walk in your movie thread and then not say something (besides “something”)

Okay. I guess you can— and did. But it’s not very nice.

    how was it?

    😊

  • Watched The Conjuring; Last Rites.

Ed and Lorraine Warren try to help a family who are being subjected to demonic forces but is this a random attack or has a trap been laid.....

I thought this was as dull as dishwater, I have enjoyed the Conjuring franchise over the years, the first two were good, the third one was weak, this one just goes nowhere, after an hour literally nothing had happened, the performances are fine, it's a good cast but it's boring beyond belief.

I so want to go see The Long Walk. I want to see it on a big screen. Every single thing I read says it’s devastating — many say don’t go alone.

I would have to go alone. No one around me wants to see this. I go to lots of movies alone, that’s no big deal to me, But I am leery about this one. I can sob so unexpectedly and intensely, this could go very weird for me and those around me.

Okay.  So, I am weighing the pros and cons— should I go to The Long Walk or no?

Pro: I know it is going to be more powerful on the big screen. The images, the sound system, audience immersion and reactions— it’s what you might call, a “happening.”

Con: But see, I go big and I don’t go home.

I was the person who screamed like a mutha when Michael Meyers sat up in the closet. I was the teenager who was throwing jabs, bobbin’ and weavin’ guiding Rocky through his fights. I was the woman slunk down in my seat with my face covered, crying, repeatedly asking my husband, “Did he do it?” as Will Smith sat by that damn dog in I Am Legend.

So yes. I am THAT person who will irritate my fellow theater goers, or they will think I’m hilarious or they will gaze upon me like an anthropological opportunity.

I am concerned about unexpected sobs and verbal “holy shits.”  You might say, “Bitch, control yourself.”  And I will say, “Bitch, I try.”

Here’s the rub: I will be alone. No one to hide behind. And I will react. I know it.

    My game plan:

Sit off to the side. Preferably left side as I think statistically people’s heads tend to look more right than left when casually looking around.  I’m pretty sure Neil deGrasse Tyson will back me up on that claim.

I will go unnoticed as I spasm. Or, someone will sneak up and euthanize me thinking I’m a homeless person tweakin’.

Pray for me now in my hour of need….

  • I’m there. Theater has 12 people so far. This is good.

  • Ended up with 25 people.

I cried through the whole damn thing.  My arms flew up in protection too many times. I looked down, I looked away. The cast was amazing.

I need to read the story again.

I have never felt so hopeless in my whole life.

    Not a spoiler —

i read someone say the book is more nihilistic and the movie more emotional.  I think this movie was pretty damn nihilistic. Absolute fucking insanely brutal. And boy, if you don’t see that in the movie and feel emotion about that, you have lost your way.
