Off to Manhattan tomorrow morning for the World Horror Convention, so I’m in serious list-making mode. I’ve got a ton of things I want to accomplish during the conference, many of which require that I take something along with me, so I’m continually running over details in my mind to make sure I don’t forget something crucial. Of course, I will, or at least I’ll fret that I will from now until I take off tomorrow. Then I can relax, because even if I’ve forgotten something it will be too late and I can just pshaw it off.
For the first time in a while, I’ll be traveling without my PC, so no e-mail, no message boards, no LiveJournal, nothing, until next Monday. I’m taking along my writing journal, so if I find I’m struck by inspiration en route, I have a place to jot things down. Other than that, I intend to be maximizing my time in New York–meeting with my agent, visiting old friends, doing panels, readings, contests, hanging out in the bar or the Irish pub across the street, making new friends, etc.
This is my fourth World Horror, but the first time I’m attending with a book out and several other irons on the fire. It ups the ante a little, which makes me a little less laid back about the conference, but I’m sure it will be a ton of fun anyway, and I’ll relax once I complete the beeline from La Guardia (landing at 12:30) to Central Park (panel to be moderated at 2 pm).
I’m sure I’ll have lots to report when I get back. Stay tuned, and don’t forget: a new episode of LOST tonight.
