NECON minus three

It might actually rain again!

On the other hand, the heat index ranged between 105 and 109. Heat Index is sorta the inverse of wind chill — it shows how hot if feels when you take the physical thermometer reading and factor in the humidity. Residents planning outdoor activities should drink plenty of liquids… preferably water… take frequent breaks… and wear light colored and lightweight clothing. If possible… spend more time in an air conditioned environment.

The joys of living in southeast Texas.

I got a lot of work done this weekend, and now the first 115 pages of my novel are in my agent’s hands. I’ll plow ahead for the next two mornings, but I have a 6:30 am flight to NECON on Thursday, so that will be it for the rest of the week. I’m entering into the part of the novel where the changes are more significant, but so far so good. In fact, I’m getting to the point where I’m not so attached to certain passages that I thought were crucial before. Too much research and unproductive narrative. Slash. Slash. Slash. Not really, but I did grab one entire paragraph this morning and say, “What the hell does that do for the book?” Answer: nada, so away it went.

The Cemetery Dance cover art for The Road to the Dark Tower should be on display at their web site this week. It is SO cool. Glenn Chadbourne did the painting for the cover — I can’t wait until others get to see it.
