I finally managed to get back to work on Missing Persons this weekend. I was surprised when I backed up my Saturday work to see how long it had been since I last touched that file. Too long. Longer than necessary, but I was in a rut of finding too many other things to do, or too many other things not to do.

I went through a batch of suggested revisions from my agent, which included swapping the order of two chapters and merging two other chapters, with concomitant hacking and slashing of the newly merged entity. A total of three pages fell by the wayside. I have only one chapter to complete from the last batch of agent revisions before I plunge ahead into new territory for a while. I’ve given up estimating when I’ll be done with this draft, though I’d really like to have it finished by early November. I’m going to do my utmost to make that happen, but it’s not entirely in my hands.

Of course, there’s a hurricane going on down the coast from us that everyone is talking about. I got a kick out of the Fox news coverage of the guy who told off a nosy reporter in very candid language on live international television, and the CBS reporter who was dashing about on Canal Street in the height of the hurricane force winds this morning, dodging debris and ultimately getting knocked on his ass by a gust.
