I scratched everything off my prodigious todo list this weekend. I sent the manuscript to the local copy shop via e-mail on Saturday and got it into a box and off to my agent yesterday. I spent most of the weekend on the synopsis, distilling the plot down to 1500 words. At a little over four pages, it’s probably on the long side, so I sent it to my agent for advice. I found that by yesterday I was editing for style without being sure if the overall content was right/appropriate, so I stopped and e-mailed it to him. I wrote a 2/3 page biography to accompany the submission, which might also be too long but I wanted to put everything in and let my agent suggest what was superfluous.
I wrote and revised my Storytellers Unplugged essay, too. A little more polish and it will be ready to be posted on Wednesday. It’s on the topic of agents.
We had a doozie of a rainstorm yesterday afternoon. It got dark around 3 pm and then the heavens opened. We’re ahead of the monthly average for rain already, but still a few inches behind for the year. Our flowers love it, though. The hibiscus plants have flowered more this spring than I can remember.
Now that my todo list is complete, I can get back to other projects. I have a short story to write. It’s one I may have mentioned a number of entries back. I pitched the concept to the editor in 100 words and got approval, then heard back this weekend that the publisher also approved the pitch without change, so now I can go ahead and write the durned thing.
Watched the finale of Survivor. Wasn’t terribly happy with the outcome. I found it interesting that the jurors, when polled, said that Danielle wouldn’t have won no matter who she picked to accompany her to the final two. All that dithering and worry for naught. At least she comes out of it with something. Is it $10K or $100K. Not too shabby. And Terry got the car, so all three go home with more than they came with.
Part one of the three-hour season finale of Grey’s Anatomy was gripping, too. Two major characters have career altering experiences. The resolution is tonight, in a two-hour special.
