Peter Boyle, perhaps best known these days as Frank Barone from Everyone Loves Raymond, died yesterday. The photograph accompanying this article makes it look like he had failed considerably since the end of Raymond.

I’m getting down to the wire on Ghost Inn. Surpassed 91,000 words this morning, and I expect the thing will go to 95,000 before I’m done with it in first draft. I know what all I’ve got to write down—it’s just a matter of finding the blessed time to do so. This novel has more denouement than any of my previous books, but with six major characters I felt I had to wrap up the loose ends of each of their respective stories.

Anyone watch The Unit last night? Ed O’Neill was almost unrecognizable as the guy in the plane. An interesting, unresolved storyline. The other storyline was equally fascinating. One of the best episodes so far, I thought.
