I bought myself an erasable whiteboard yesterday. I have no idea why I didn’t think of doing this before. Until now, I’ve always used a bunch of small notepads to list upcoming deadlines and even unscheduled projects to keep them in mind. After a while, I’d rip off the top page and rewrite the list on the next sheet when it got too messy or cluttered. Now I can write in big letters (increasingly important as I get older, I find) and simply erase things when they’re either done or the deadline goes by. What a flash of genius.
The list on the board has anthology deadlines between now and March, as well as four other themed anthologies that don’t have specific deadlines. I really want to try to get something submitted to most of these, but I’m afraid I may miss a few—especially the one that has a closing date that’s 10 days from now and doesn’t take e-mail submissions. I have to prioritize and the novel that I’m revising gets top billing. I have an idea for the January anthology and even wrote a couple of pages yesterday, but unless I make major progress on it this weekend I’m going to have to write it off.
I’m working my way through Ghost Inn. Up to page 40 on revisions as of this morning. I’d also like to make serious progress on that front this weekend, too.
Big Finish, the publisher of the Short Trips series, has a web page up for Doctor Who: Destination Prague. The hardcover has a nominal March ’07 publication date, but since we haven’t yet had editorial reports back from the publisher, I’m dubious they’ll hit the target. Unless they just love all our stories without change!
Good episode of C.S.I. last night. Apparently William Petersen is going on hiatus to perform in the (sold out) play A Dublin Carol in Providence for a month.
