Non-fiction week

My writing sessions this week will be devoted almost entirely to non-fiction. Because of some delays with an issue of Cemetery Dance magazine, the editor gave me the opportunity to update a column I submitted a few months ago. He wants it back by the end of the week, so that’s going to be my primary focus for the next few days.

I also have a Storytellers Unplugged essay due on Saturday, so when I’m not working on one, I’ll be working on the other.

I did no writing this past weekend. Didn’t even go near the computer. In fact, we got in the car and drove several hours away from the computers! A much needed and deserved getaway to San Antonio. The weather was absolutely perfect for sitting out on the Riverwalk. Sometimes you just need to push the reset button.

On Saturday I’m going in to the MWA/SW luncheon in Houston. They have them once a month, and invite specialists in topics that might be of interest to crime writers. I’ve only gone once before, but this month’s speaker interests me. She had to cancel once before, so I’m hoping she doesn’t get called away at the last minute again. Then next week I’m off on another long road trip, again for something having to do with non-fiction projects. I’ll say more about this later, but probably won’t talk about it too much until after the fact.

So, Amazing Race—what a change of fortunes, eh? I’ll miss Rob and Amber, though I suspect I’m in the minority. It’s probably good for Rob’s mental health to be out of the competition, though. I suspect he’s a lot saner when he’s not competing at something. I know people like him, ones who’ve had to walk away from even friendly challenges because they take them too seriously.
