My computer is bogged down rendering a video, so I thought I might as well blog, since I can’t do much else for the next fifteen minutes.
Speaking of bogged down, my ISP provides free antivirus software and firewall, which I have been making use of on my home computers. They recently changed from one brand of A/V-Firewall to another, so I upgraded. Big mistake. It’s the Norton suite and it is brought two different computers to their respective and metaphorical knees. Everything runs like it’s being filtered through molasses. So, last night I decided to uninstall and use a different program. Guess what? There’s no uninstall procedure for it. No entry in the Add/Remove software control panel, no standalone get-rid-of-this-program link. Nothing. And it’s so thoroughly entrenched in the registry that it’s going to take some serious surgery to get rid of it if AT&T Yahoo! can’t come up with a foolproof procedure.
I haven’t been doing much writing lately, other than my Storytellers essay and a book review I’m working on for Onyx (Fatal Revenant). I’m still cogitating over the novel I want to write. One of these days I’m going to have to start Page 1. Maybe next Monday. I’ve taken the day off to create a five-day weekend. Funny, it wasn’t too long ago when I was thinking about doing NaNoWriMo—I actually signed up—and I haven’t written a word of fiction this month. I did get one story back into circulation on the weekend, though. This one is bound for Australia by air mail so I’m not likely to hear back on that one any time soon.
I might end up writing my novel to the music of Goldfrapp. And Shpongle. It’ll be my electronica novel.
I think one of the reasons why I like How I Met Your Mother is because of it’s ongoing Canadiana subplot. Both Robin and Cobie Smulders, the actress who plays her, are Canadian, and that comes up fairly often. Last night it was about Thanksgiving, which of course took place in Canada over a month ago.
