Yesterday: 1 Rejection
Today: 1 Story back out the door
The law of conservation of submissions has been obeyed
Getting the submission in order took up a sizable chunk of this morning’s writing session, though. Partly because my stupid printer decided to forget where it’s supposed to start printing on a page, so the first time I printed the story it was shifted half an inch to the right. I couldn’t convince the printer to behave properly, so I offset the whole story in the manuscript half an inch to the left and order was once again achieved. I think the printer’s days are numbered. This is the second time this glitch has emerged. The first time, I was able to talk sense to it. This time, not so much.
I did manage to revise the first page of the new draft of the story in progress. I spend a lot of time on first pages, probably more there than anywhere else.
Last night I watched the new Closer two-hour “event.” Leave it to a crime show to have a Christmas special involving multiple homicides and interrogations. Francis Sternhagen’s a real trip, maneuvering the dinosaur-sized RV like a NASCAR driver and whipping out the hootch to facilitate interrogations. Lots of grey areas in this episode. The real estate guy made for good comedy relief.
There would have been frost on the pumpkins this morning, if we had pumpkins. People on the street who left cars in driveways were scraping a thick layer of frost of the windshields this morning. I don’t know how low it got, but the predictions were for 30 degrees for a few hours.
