William Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist, To Live and Die in L.A., the latter featuring William Petersen) directed last night’s episode of C.S.I.. There were two parts in the show where the difference in direction stood out for me. The first was the beginning. Not the chase scene, but the look of the cinematography when the CSIs arrived on the scene. It had a more documentary style than usual. The second place was near the end, when Warrick has his drunken/drugged experience. The middle part of the show could have been directed by anyone. A decent episode, but the fate of the dancer was written in stone early on. The addicted-to-pain-killers ideas pretty well worn out, too.
I haven’t seen Survivor yet, so I’m avoiding anywhere that might spoil what happened.
I’m still editing the story-in-progress. I think the first five pages are in pretty good shape now, which only leaves three more to polish. I really want to get this thing into fine-tuning state by the end of the weekend. That’s the point where most of the sentences and paragraphs are in the right place and I’m just pushing words around instead of the bigger pieces.
