Unscathed

Rita missed us. We got some modest winds — not enough to blow the pine needles off our back deck — and a little rain, but so far we’ve had worse rainstorms. We could still get some more rain, and I wouldn’t complain about that, but we haven’t lost power and essentially have been completely unscathed. Still looking for news about some of our eastern communities to see how they fared, but we are fine. Some parts of Houston and Galveston lost power, but so far few reports of any significant damage.

The wind is still blustery outside our windows as I write this; the sound reminds me of a good snowstorm from when I was growing up in eastern Canada.
