…one that has too few hours.
I’m trying to accomplish final modifications on Missing Persons. I’m writing about 500 words per morning, slowly, but steadily getting to where I want to be by the end of the week.
At the same time, I’m reading Lisey’s Story, about 225 pages in, hoping to get it finished by Saturday so I can write it up for my CD column on Sunday and get that off to Bob Morrish.
Also keeping up with a few sweeps shows. I still have Gray’s Anatomy on tape from Sunday night, and now have Boston Legal on tape, too. Hoping to get caught up on one of them before Amazing Race and Lost tonight.
With the recent change in ownership of Hellnotes, “Therapy” is no longer available at their web site. Judi returned the rights to me and I’m subbing it to print markets. I’ll let you know if anyone picks it up.
Watched this live on the news last night. A Continental Express Embraer jet blew both of its left tires on takeoff from Houston. The local ABC affiliate had a helicopter in the air that shot video of the plane as it did fly-bys to evaluate the problem. There didn’t seem to be much more than rim left on the left side.
He burned off fuel for two hours to get down to maximum landing weight. Commentators speculated about showers of sparks and how the plane would whip left the moment the rim touched the tarmac.
Instead, the pilot put it down on the center line and let it roll to a stop. It never wavered a bit. No sparks. Apparently the planes (manufactured in Brazil) are designed to land without tires. Passengers said the landing was smoother than the takeoff.
