I revamped and resubmitted my biography to my agent this morning based on his feedback. I thought I’d put in too much, but he wanted a little bit more, which I gladly provided. Sometimes it’s tough to utter glowing things about yourself, but after a while it becomes second nature. (What, by the way, is first nature?) The bio is still less than a page, which was my target when I set about writing it.
The synopsis, well, that’s another matter. I knew it would need work, and he told me as much. Then he volunteered to take a stab at it, to which I willingly agreed. I’m looking forward to see how he approaches it, as someone whose stock and trade is in reading synopses.
I’m slowly getting caught up with taped TV episodes. I clipped the first 25 minutes of the second hour of the NCIS finale, but it doesn’t seem that I missed more than scenery chewing. The episode weakened Gibbs’s character significantly, to my mind, by taking all his trademark behaviors and giving them to his former supervisor. It makes him seem like a copycat rather than an original character. All his tag lines and gestures and philosophies are stolen. The ending had a Shawshank Redemption feel to it. I haven’t read anything about the fall to see what Gibbs’s future with the show will be.
CSI made me laugh. Even during the episode they were talking about the shocking cliff-hanger. Of course, I assumed it had something to do with Brass, who was at death’s door throughout the hour. I won’t give it away, but the last-minute revelation came as no surprise. There have been significant glances and pregnant pauses alluding to this for ages. But good for them, that’s all I’ll say!
Lost continues to keep me curious—I’m looking forward to see what turn things will take next week. I watched the opening ten minutes of Without a Trace and let the tape run for the rest of it. Jeez, I’ll be glad when finales weeks are over. I might actually get some significant writing done! One by one, my weeknights are freeing up.
Just one day and a handful of hours left in my shelf-clearing eBay auctions. Browse the listings and see if there’s anything to your liking. Everything has at least one bid, but the prices are still low.
