Long weekend

I have Friday off from work, as do many people over here, I imagine. The extra time to work my way through my research material is much needed. A discovered a new trove of data this morning that will be both extremely valuable and terribly time consuming to work my way through. I think it will be worth it in the long run, but there’s always a question of how much is too much. Goes back to the Joe 90 thing I wrote about at Storytellers last month. I want to absolutely immerse myself in this milieu. I want to walk the talk and talk the walk…or something like that.

Spent the morning avoiding Lost because I hadn’t seen last night’s episode yet, a situation I rectified on my lunch break. Rumble in the jungle indeed—not just one, but two appearances by the monster, plus some mud wrestling to boot. I sussed Hurley’s gag early on, but it paid off all the same. I have to wonder if they are trying really hard to make us suspect Juliet is a plant, or if she really is. You just never know with these guys.

Anyone watch Boston Legal? I liked this week’s episode, but then again I almost always do. I like the goofy way they got Spader out of the way so he wasn’t part of the hostage situation, and I especially liked the archival footage of Shatner from 1957 as a young lawyer on a pilot for The Defender standing in for a young Denny Crane. The best part of each episode, though, is the epilog. Here the truth always comes out.

My interest in Jericho is starting to fade. It’s in danger of joining Desperate Housewives on the chopping block. I just don’t really care any more, except for Hawking. Since his identity comes into question next week, I’ll probably be back.
