Dustin the wind

I’m pretty close to being finished with my Storytellers essay. I’ll read it over again once more, then record it for the Podango podcast tonight. I usually find a couple of rough spots when I read it aloud.

I was really impressed with Jen on Big Brother 8 last night. The way she planted doubt in Jessica’s mind was classic. She had nothing immediate to gain from it and it started a cascade effect that might—just might—save Dick’s butt. If America votes to have Eric vote to eliminate Dustin, then it’s pretty much a done deal as long as Zach and Jen stick with Dick and Daniele. Given the number of posts on Dick’s profile on the CBS BB8 web site compared to every other contestant, I think there could be strong support for keeping him around. And America’s last two votes give me confidence. Pitting Eric against Dustin was cool, and then getting him to give the silent treatment to Jessica was the icing on the cake. Coupled with Jen’s seed of doubt, it puts Jessica on the defensive. Here’s how I see the vote going tomorrow: To oust Dick: Jameka and Amber. To oust Dustin: Daniele, Zack, Jen. Eric is the wild card—if he votes against Dick, Jessica will cast the tie-breaker vote and I doubt she’ll show her hand and get rid of Dustin. But if Eric has to vote against Dustin, well, I can’t wait to see the fireworks that sets off.

TS Erin is churning around in the Gulf of Mexico and promises to bring us some rain over the next couple of days. The peaked look of our azaleas made me almost type “much needed” in front of rain, but in fact it’s only been a couple of weeks since we were getting hosed with rain on a daily basis, so we’re not in bad shape. I’m just glad I held off from watering the lawn these past few days. The water would likely have vaporized before it hit the ground anyway. Houston could get as much as 5-8″ of rain, which is what we call “showers” around here. Behind Erin is Dean, whose destination is like the title of an Agatha Christie novel: unknown.
