Evil Dick lives to fight another day

We’re supposed to get more rain from TS Erin today, but so far it’s been clear. Yesterday we just got a good soaking, though there were many streets that flooded downtown and a couple of roof collapses (at least one fatal) during the storm.

My new Storytellers essay Are Critique Groups Worthwhile? is now up. Take a gander, post your thoughts. The podcast version hasn’t yet appeared at Podango, but it should shortly. I think I’m getting the hang of recording these podcasts. The software I’m using (Audacity) allows me to stop and start without leaving evidence of the splice, so I don’t have to do it all in one take. I can even redo phrases if there’s something awkward upon review and I edited out most of my ticks and clicks between sentences, too.

Started reading The Tin Roof Blowdown by James Lee Burke last night. Takes place during and after Katrina. The character studies in the first few chapters are terrific.

Big Brother 8 played out exactly as I hoped last night, and the topper was the new HoH. It’s fun to watch the power shift from week to week. Just when the minority alliance looks doomed, now all of a sudden there’s this new coalition and a few outsiders who thought they had it made. The look on the evicted house guest’s face spoke volumes, and I suspect that he’s not going to find out for weeks why he got evicted because he will go into sequester for the rest of the tournament.
