I missed a section of NCIS last night. If you saw it, could you add a comment that tells me how the McGee subplot turned out. He was getting all these huge credit card charges that had something to do with the new girl who moved in across the hall from him. Thanks!
I thought House was quite good last night. I especially enjoyed the “meta” bits, like when House explained that walking looked good on film because it makes it seem like there’s forward motion in the storyline. The medical story was more than a McGuffin, too, which was good. I’m really starting to like “Thirteen” (Olivia Wilde) and will be curious to see what her secret is (next week, apparently).
L&O: SVU was also decent last night, though I could have done without the injury/blindness subplot. I really liked the guy’s Louisiana accent, though people from that state may have a different opinion. The actor’s scenes before he was medicated were incredible—but then again, so were his scenes after he went on treatment. A fine performance and an intriguing storyline.
I just received the galley proofs of my story “Popup Killer,” which will be in the Apex anthology Gratia Placenti this fall. I have until Sunday to find any errors. It’s a little bit like working on one of those puzzle quizzes where you have to spot the five mistakes. Fortunately, I haven’t read the story in a few months, so hopefully my fresh eyes will be reasonably sharp.
Random item to look for when signing publishing contracts, especially for short fiction. Make sure the contract spells out in clear language when you will be paid. It’s a perfectly logical expectation, but it’s easy to overlook. Very easy.
