I had to go out to a banquet last night (my wife was being presented with her first research grant!) so I set the DVR to capture the CBS shows. Except I didn’t—I really set it to capture three hours of ABC shows. So now I have to resort to watching Survivor and C.S.I. online, and just blow off Without a Trace altogether. The CBS full episode player has some hiccups that make this less than fun, especially when a show screws up thirty minutes in and starts all over and you have to massage it gently to get past all that stuff you’ve already watched. I did manage to get to the end of Survivor. They surprised me; I thought for sure Eric was a goner. And then the oddness after tribal council. To be continued? What?
Criminal Minds had a good cliff hanger this week, too. And we discovered, once again, that soylent green is people. Yum, yum. L&O: CI took a literary path last night, demonstrating that all writers are heavy drinking has-beens or wanna-bes who are just one failure away from a good homicide. Goren is my hero, though. One of my favorite fictional characters. Taking off his badge at the gym to intimidate the faker tough guy.
Tomorrow is my day at Storytellers Unplugged. I discuss a common trope in publishing: aiming high vs. aiming low and shooting off your various toes.
