Time for my annual cold. It’s the kind that starts with phlegm forming in the back of a scratchy throat, only at night when I’m trying to get to sleep—for maximum inconvenience. Then it works its way into a sinus cavity or two, and then into the throat proper. This morning, my voice is deep enough that I could do voice promos for CNN. Bless Hall’s cough drops. Sometimes I regret holding on to my tonsils all these years.
Last night was TV wasteland. I found an SVU rerun I hadn’t seen before, with Marcia Gay Harden as a guest star (FBI agent Star) while I worked on a book review. Taped a couple of 9 pm shows for later viewing.
Still revising the new short story. Slow progress. This cold means I’m not sleeping as well, so it takes me a little while longer to snap to when the alarm goes off at 5 a.m.
Not quite as cold this morning as yesterday. We’re supposed to do a company photo shoot out in the parking lot tomorrow morning. The last couple have everyone in shirt sleeves, but I think there might be a few parkas this time. People around here don’t like cold weather. At least we didn’t get snow like the Maritimes. 45 cm (nearly 18 inches) in Moncton. Whoa. It’s been a few years since I remember there being snow like that in early December.
