Every time a reporter or an interviewee says “Hunker down,” we have a drink of Shiner Bock. At the rate this phrase is coming up, we should be trashed by 9 p.m.

Hurricane? What hurricane?

The rains haven’t started in most places yet, but the outer band winds are picking up in a lot of the periphery. Bayous are backing up in the downtown as well. Still 4-5 hours before eye landfall on Galveston. Power is out to 165,000 people in the area at present, a good chunk of them on Galveston. The Hilton in Clear Lake (near Johnson Space Center) has suffered some facade damage from the winds.
