Aftermath

No power — we’re borrowing a line from a neighbor with a generator to run our fridge and the internet for a few hours at a time. The storm came through at 2 a.m. and we lost power at 6:15. There’s no reliable news about when it might be back on, but there are rumors of two to four weeks, which leaves a lot of things up in the air. No major damage here, though lots of trees down, some of them on neighbors’ houses or garages. Plenty of rain, too, but that seems to have abated now. Our yard is soggy, but nothing damaging. Still gathering news about points south. Major buildings lost all their windows (70+ floors’ worth) in Houston and some historic buildings on the Galveston seawall are gone. Not as bad as expected, but plenty bad all the same.
