Twelfth place

Canada’s up to nine medals, two gold, three silver, four bronze. We’ve squeezed in front of Kenya and Ethiopia. Woo-hoo!

I spent most of the weekend working on an essay about Red Dragon (the novel). I’m limited to 900 words, which means I have to be picky about what I say. I was up to 1100 words at one point, but I decided to sacrifice some things that I deemed less important and now I’m right in the target area. The first half of the essay has come together well. I’ve moved things around a lot to try to come up with a good flow to my thesis. The last half needs work and I’m still looking for a good way to wrap it up, but it’s getting there.

Watched Big Brother last night. I thought Renny made good choices for her nominees. I can’t believe how easily those people ate crickets. Ewwww. And pig’s ears. Yuck! I thought someone would choke, but they all managed to get down what they volunteered to eat. Jerry seemed to have the hardest time.

Chris Noth had his final appearance on Law and Order: Criminal Intent. I expected something more dramatic to happen at the end, but they left him in an interesting existential position. I also caught up on Burn Notice from last week. This new Victor fellow is a pain. I wonder how Michael is ever going to get himself out from under his current state of duress.
