Deal or no deal

hiding her assetsScratching your head trying to figure out why Agent Jessup from Fringe looks familiar? Well, she was normally seen wearing more flattering apparel when she was opening up briefcases on Deal or No Deal. Is she going to hang around or just be a temp? Maybe a romantic rival for Olivia? We’ll just have to wait and see. I loved all the custard stuff in the season premiere, because it is about more than food, which is one of Walter’s obsessions. It’s really about Peter and anti-Peter, or parallel-Peter. My question is: did Walter steal Peter from the other side? If so, is his anti/parallel wife pissed? It seems like the people on the other side are more aware of us than we are of them. Interesting.

Here is the news item that arose out of the phone interview I did earlier this week: Campbellton Tribune. It’s a nice little piece. The phrase “fine fiction” near the end should actually be “science fiction.” We didn’t have the best phone connection!

Survivor: WTF! I’m not sure what to make of Evil Russell. He apparently doesn’t care about the money, if he’s to be believed. But we already know that he’s lying to his fellow competitors left and right–he could well be lying to the audience cameras, too. He’s only there, he says, to stir things up, which must be a first. Dumping out the water was bad enough, but burning the other guy’s socks, that was just mean. And, I would think, treading on the edge of breaking the rules? I don’t know. I think they’re going to catch on to him pretty fast, especially when someone wises up to the fact that anyone who crosses him gets eliminated. The lady cop stands the best chance of uncovering his little game plan. In a way, he breathes some interesting life into the show, but he’s going to annoy the crap out of a lot of viewers, too. Do you love to hate him, or just plain hate him?

I wrote a section of my next Cemetery Dance column this morning, while Dolan’s Cadillac was still fresh in my mind. By the time two more months elapse, I might have blotted the experience of watching it from my mind. I just realized that the guy who played Robinson was the young guy from American Beauty. He was so good in that film…and so bad in this one. Sometimes when a movie’s bad, I don’t have much to say about it, but this time I found lots to carp about.

Season finale of Eureka tonight.
