Harming redux

I’m not entirely sure I got the point of Dan’s game during POV last night. Kudos to Memphis for pulling off a win when he needed one and to Dan for doing the right thing when it got down to the wire, but he went to an awful lot of work to orchestrate this big game at the ceremony. The only thing I can see that it did was to force Ollie to suggest Renny as a replacement, which might get in the way of their loose alliance. On the other hand, I think it would have been much smarter for him to put up Ollie. If he had done that, Ollie would have been pissed and Michelle would have been miffed, but she might have gotten over it, whereas now he has both Ollie and Michelle angry at him and unlikely to forgive the move.

While sitting in the dentist’s office waiting room yesterday, I read “Words Written Backwards,” a chapbook by Gemma Files published by Burning Effigy Press. Her rendition of how demonic possession might work may not be unique, but it’s presented in a way I’ve never contemplated before. An effective story that has enough going on to be a novel instead of 30-something page novella.

My first short story, “Harming Obsession,” will appear in a reprint DVD-Video/pdf Halloween anthology called I’m Going to Tell You One More Time from WRONG WORLD. A total of 24 stories from the likes of Mort Castle, Ralan Conley (of Ralan.com), JG Faherty, Brian A. Hopkins, Scott Nicholson and Michael Kelly. The collection will be available on October 1.
