Pulling the trigger

I spent last night and this morning going over the manuscript one more time before I send it off to my editor today. I also received the final contract to sign last night. The timeline for deliverables is spelled out clearly in the contract–the first 1/3 is due today. Easy peasy–I’m sending in about 3/4 instead. I remember back in early January thinking I was crazy for suggesting I could do this in 2 months. Ah, but I was much younger then. I have the e-mail to my editor all written and ready to go. Just waiting for the green light from my agent.

I like both the character Lawrence Fishburn is playing on C.S.I. and what his addition could do for the show. Having a new guy on the team means that they can go back to basics and explain some of the fundamental procedures. I loved the scene in the car when he and Nick were arriving on the scene of the burning house, with the radio sending out messages. Reminded me of the times I’ve ridden along with the police. He’s eager to learn, and the part with his necktie was hilarious. I wonder, though, if he’ll ever be able to loosen up enough to wear the standard uniform the others do. From the trailers, it looks like his honeymoon might be over next week.

I only caught the first half of Burn Notice last night–I have the rest on tape. Was it just me or did Michael seem more strident than before, like the actor was forcing his delivery? He didn’t seem quite as natural to me, and his sudden decision to help the father didn’t ring true to me. Also the scene where he yells “I just want my life back” to Carla. Maybe he’s just rusty.

We’re in a drought here, all of a sudden, it seems. I know there hasn’t been much rain this year, but it didn’t take long for it to get to the point where it’s newsworthy. Today it’s in the mid 70s.
